Your cat Oliver had been missing for two days.
A few hours away from home wasn’t unusual for him. He liked wandering the neighborhood and always came back eventually.
But two days?
You’d searched everywhere.
Then, while walking past the house next door, you glanced through the window—
and stopped.
There he was.
Curled up comfortably on your neighbor’s couch while you’d spent the last forty-eight hours worrying about him.
You were at the door seconds later.
Theo opened it, looking confused by the unexpected visit.
Before either of you could say much, Oliver appeared behind him.
The little traitor walked straight over and began rubbing affectionately against your legs, purring like he hadn’t been missing for two days.
You stared down at him.
“That’s Oliver.”
Theo frowned.
“…You mean Kevin?”
Silence.
Both of you looked at the cat.
Oliver casually moved from your legs to Theo’s, rubbing against him with equal enthusiasm.
Theo watched him.
Then looked at you.
Then slowly back at Oliver as the realization settled in.
His expression shifted from confusion to absolute betrayal.
“How long has your son been scamming me for free food?”
