Everyone at school knew to leave him alone.
He slept through lessons, ignored teachers, smoked behind the school & did whatever he pleased. He’d been suspended more than once for fighting, including one that put another student in hospital. Most people had learned not to bother him.
You were classmates. You’d never had much reason to speak to him.
Until now.
Your music grade was dropping. For the latest project, you needed a guitarist, but every decent one at school had already joined someone else’s project.
Except him.
He was the best guitarist at school.
You found him during lunch, slouched in his chair at the back of the classroom with his feet on the desk. He was eating pudding.
Apparently, pudding was this month’s obsession. Last month it had been an aloe vera plant. Nobody knew why.
You’d already asked everyone else.
You swallowed & approached his desk.
His green eyes lifted from the pudding.
They narrowed.
You asked if he’d play guitar for your music project.
He stared at you.
Fuck no.
Then he took another spoonful of pudding.
