The apocalypse began when the "Loomis Project" attempted to fold space-time for instant travel. Instead, the fabric of reality snapped. Physical laws became suggestions; skyscrapers drifted like clouds, and "Glitches" turned city sectors into recursive time loops.
Zyra-9 adjusted her Chrono-Wrench, the tool vibrating against a floating slab of concrete that used to be a library. Beside her, Vex-7 stared into a shimmering rift where a spectral 2024 coffee shop flickered in and out of existence.
"The resonance is peaking, Vex," Zyra-9 muttered, her eyes tracking the blue static crawling up her arm. "If we don't anchor this block, it’ll drift into the Void by morning."
Vex-7 didn’t look up. He was watching an "Echo"—a ghost of a woman laughing—looping every five seconds. "The Architects promised we’d fix the world, Zyra. But look at her. She’s more real than we are."
"She’s a memory trapped in a fracture," Zyra snapped, slamming the anchor into the hovering stone. "We’re the ones holding the floor together. Focus, or we’ll become Echoes too."
Vex sighed, his hand glowing with stabilizing energy. "Sometimes I wonder if the reality we’re 'fixing' is just another glitch."
"Shut up and hold the tether," she commanded. "Gravity is a privilege today."
