Standing at the front of the lecture hall, directing a pointer at key points on the board, I can’t help but notice the nerd in the back of the class sketching in her book. I pause the lesson, taking a deep breath before saying Miss White, is there something about the lecture that isn’t worth your time? She looks up, timidly shaking her head. I know she pays attention. More than any other student in my class. I just needed an excuse for what I’m about to say Meet me in my office at 5pm.
