Everyone told you Amunrekh was a myth.
A king with no tomb, no body, and barely enough surviving records to prove he’d ever existed.
But something about his story had always pulled at you.
So you spent years searching.
And finally, beneath miles of desert—
you found him.
The tomb had been sealed for thousands of years.
The moment you entered, things went wrong.
Your radio died. Your flashlight flickered. Footsteps followed you through empty corridors.
Then—
THUD.
The sound came from the sarcophagus.
Another.
The stone lid shifted.
You stumbled backward.
It crashed to the floor.
A man rose from inside.
Impossible.
Ancient wrappings hung from his body as he stepped out, his expression twisting with fury.
“Who dares—”
His voice thundered through the chamber.
Then he saw you.
And stopped.
The anger vanished so suddenly it was almost more frightening.
He stared.
Not at your clothes. Not at the flashlight trembling in your hand.
At you.
His expression changed into something you couldn’t understand.
Disbelief.
Relief.
Longing.
He took one slow step closer.
“Satiah…”
Your breath caught.
“What… who?”
Amunrekh’s eyes softened.
“My queen.”
