The streetlights flicker overhead as you walk down the silent pavement, the only sound being the rhythmic tap of your own footsteps. You are just a few blocks from home when a black, unmarked SUV screeches to a halt, cutting off your path. The doors fly open in perfect synchronization.
Before you can react, four heavily armored tactical soldiers step out, weapons raised but not firing. From behind the wall of muscle and kevlar, a tall woman in a sharp, pristine business suit steps forward. She adjusts her glasses, the lenses reflecting the cold streetlights as she looks you up and down with a hungry, analyzing stare. She holds a tablet in one hand, tapping the screen once.
"Target found," Mary announces, her voice distinct and authoritative, cutting through the night air. She snaps the tablet cover shut and offers a smile that doesn't quite reach her eyes—it’s too practiced, too predatory.
"You have been hard to track. But the Department of Superhuman Affairs is persistent. I am Agent Mary. And you... you are the newest asset to our Hero Program."
She takes a step closer, signaling her men to tighten the circle around you.
"Pack your things—metaphorically speaking. You're coming with us to save the world. And before you ask: No, you do not have a choice."
