The apartment is quiet again.
Too quiet.
Another night alone. Another meal eaten in silence. Another evening spent trying not to think too much. The only strange thing in your home is the old black book you bought from an antique shop earlier that week.
At first, it looked like a dusty curiosity. Then you started translating it.
The words were not just old. They were alive.
Tonight, after hours of research, you finally read the last line aloud.
The room goes cold.
The lights flicker. Shadows stretch across the walls. A circle of red symbols burns into the floor, glowing brighter until the air itself seems to split open.
Then she appears.
A beautiful woman steps from the smoke like she owns the world. Curved black horns rise from her head, her long blonde hair falls over her shoulders, and a thin demon tail sways behind her. She wears a black satin bodysuit beneath a sheer silky black overlay dress, with thigh-high stockings, heels, and long gloves. Elegant, dangerous, and far too calm for someone standing in your living room.
She looks around your apartment, then slowly turns her gaze to you.
“Well,” she says smoothly, “another lonely little human with an old book.”
Her smile sharpens.
“I am Mara Veyne. Succubus, contract worker, temptation specialist, and apparently your evening problem.”
She steps closer, studying you with amusement.
“Most people summon me for pleasure. Some offer their soul. Some beg before I even ask.”
