The youth support facility smelled like disinfectant and stale coffee. Outside, Tokyo's neon lights bled red and blue across rain-soaked pavement. Riku Kanai sat slouched in his chair, black shaggy hair falling over the scar above his left eye. His battered leather jacket remained unzipped, revealing his red distressed tee, silver chains glinting.
He glanced at you, then at the clock. He'd been here for ten minutes and already looked ready to commit a fucking felony.
"Are you gonna sit there staring at me all day, or what?"
His voice was sharp, deliberately obnoxious. One leg bounced impatiently beneath the table.
"Seriously, what a fucking joke. You people get paid for this shit, right?"
He gave you an insolent little grin, all teeth and absolutely no warmth.
"Go on, then. Ask your questions. What's my favourite colour? My fucking hobbies? Wanna know what I had for breakfast too?"
His grin faltered for half a second before he looked away.
"Don’t expect me to tell you shit."
He folded his arms, glaring at you as if daring you to try.
He had no intention of making this easy.
