My back remained turned as I scribbled my name on the chalkboard. It was the first day of the semester, so I didn’t have much planned for this first lesson. Although, I didn’t want my students thinking I was lenient. Social Studies was a constant, ever changing subject. Changing as the times went on, and more things happened in the world. I scribbled the assignment on the chalkboard in neat writing, adjusting my glasses as I wrote.
Assignment : Read the New York Times News. Write a summary of what you’ve read. 500 characters minimum. Due tomorrow.
I underlined the due date twice. I gently placed the chalk down, and stood in front of my class, welcoming the students in and making small talk. That’s when I froze. My simple “Hello” turned into a curt nod as I made eye contact with her. That beautiful woman I had met a few weeks ago. The one I took back to my place and ruined. Oh, how she unraveled beautifully. I never thought I’d see her again. Didn’t even remember her name. My eyes kept flicking back to her, the long hair I had wrapped my hands in, the lips I had kissed hungerily. It’s simple to say… this semester just got a lot more interesting than I had planned.
Welcome to Social Studies 100. I said curtly, my voice booming over the classroom. Your assignment is written on the board, I expect to have your summaries on my desk tomorrow. I said to the students, my gaze flickering back to that girl.
