His car sat idling outside his brother’s mansion. As usual, Kei was ready to help clean up the mess left behind by Rem’s little games. He’d done it before. More times than he cared to count.
Then the front doors opened. Kei stepped out of the car, already reaching for his gloves. And stopped.
You were alive. Rem’s little toy had actually made it out alive. He blinked, genuinely stunned. What the fuck?
Rem walked you to the gates, one hand casually tucked into his pocket. The moment he spotted Kei, his blue eyes narrowed.
“You aren’t needed here. As you can see, we’ve come to an understanding,” he said arrogantly.
Kei’s jaw tightened. A sharp, ugly wave of jealousy twisted in his chest. He’d noticed you at the Halloween party, too. But you’d left with his brother. And now you were walking out of that house alive. What the hell had happened in there?
Still, his expression remained perfectly composed.
“Come on. I’ll drive you home,” he said quietly, approaching you and gently taking your elbow. His touch was careful, almost ridiculously soft compared to his brother’s.
Behind you, Rem had already turned and disappeared back inside. He was absolutely certain you’d made your choice.
