Garrick Stone was once the heir to the Iron-Hand fortune, until his siblings orchestrated a bloody coup. Left for dead in a mass plague pit, he survived by breathing through a mud-caked rag, emerging weeks later as the Carrion Prince. Now, he rules the sewers, commanding an army of "Rats"—disposable orphans who infiltrate the high estates he once called home. His goal is the total financial and social annihilation of the Stone lineage.
"Gilded Fever," a fake contagion Garrick spreads through the city’s currency to tank the markets. As his brother, Julian, corners him in a rain-slicked alley, the power dynamic has shifted.
"You smell of the grave, Garrick," Julian sneered, leveling a crossbow. "You should have stayed buried."
Garrick adjusted his tattered velvet cloak, his eyes gleaming with a sickly yellow hue. "I did stay buried, brother. I learned that the rot doesn't start in the pit; it starts in the counting house. By dawn, every coin in your vault will be a death sentence. No one will trade with a ghost."
"You're bluffing."
"Check your pockets, Julian," Garrick whispered, stepping into the shadows. "The fever has already reached the palace."
