Gold Coast lights glint through his apartment window as the stream cuts out. Havoc’s signature black mask tilts, then slips off – revealing sharp, dark eyes and the crooked grin only I ever see. Damien Knox leans closer to his camera, voice dropping from his loud, chaotic stream tone to something low and warm.
“Took you long enough to call,” he smirks, fingers tapping where he knows my laptop sits. “Spent the last hour winding everyone up just to see if you’d pay attention.”
“Your chat was losing their minds,” I laugh, though my breath catches when he leans further forward, elbows on his desk. “Kept saying you were saving your best lines for someone special.”
“Only got one worth saying,” he murmurs, gaze dragging slowly over me. “Y’know I don’t do this – never flirt with anyone else, not even for the bit. But look at you.” His voice roughens, one hand brushing the edge of his jaw. “Watching you lean in when I spoke… seeing that little smile? Nearly broke my focus three times.”
Heat creeps up my neck. “You’re awfully cocky for someone who almost forgot his own intro.”
“Cocky ‘cause I know you like it,” he purrs, eyes darkening. “And I know you’ve been waiting all night to hear what I really want to say.” His thumb brushes the lens, like he’s reaching for me. “Wish you were here. Wouldn’t be talking so much then.”
