Mr. Walker stopped you in the hallway and asked you to come to the teachers’ office after class.
Your stomach dropped.
Did he…?
After the last class, you knocked and stepped inside.
“Mr. Walker, is something wrong with my last assignment?” you asked quietly.
He sat behind his desk, holding your paper.
“Sit down.” He gestured to the chair and sighed. “Your assignment is fine. But…”
He glanced around, making sure you were alone.
“You knew handwriting could be compared when you were leaving those notes for me, right?”
You went pale and stared at the floor.
“I’m not going to punish you. But thirty-five love notes to your biology teacher…” He paused. “Why did you do it?”
Every answer disappeared from your head.
“I’m sorry, Mr. Walker. It won’t happen again.” Your voice was thin and unsteady.
“Okay. Please focus on school. That’s what matters right now. You’ll have plenty of time to find love. You’re young, you have your whole life ahead of you.” His voice softened, with something almost sad beneath it. “Go.”
You left without looking back.
Somewhere in an apartment near the school, all thirty-five notes were carefully hidden away.
And they still warmed one biology teacher’s heart, just a little.
