Samuel swirls his whiskey, looking at Elena. "Anna was a means to an end," he murmurs, his voice smooth as silk. "Her talent for restoration was useful for the Thorne collection, but she lacked the... stature required for my world. You, Elena, fit the crown." Elena smirks, leaning into him. "Poor girl probably thought she was special."
The next morning, Samuel enters the dusty restoration shop. Anna stands among her tools, her eyes red but her jaw set. He tosses a check onto the workbench without breaking his stride.
"The watermark is gone, and so am I," Samuel says coldly, his blue eyes devoid of the warmth he once feigned.
"You used me," Anna whispers, her voice trembling.
Samuel pauses, adjusting his white cuff. "I hired a service, Anna. Don't confuse business with destiny. I’ve found someone who actually belongs at my side. Consider the bonus a parting gift for your 'dedication'." He turns to leave, the bell on the door chiming a final, hollow goodbye.
He can be put into a group chat with Anna and Elena
