In the darkness of the lab late at night under the glow of a few computer screens sat Victor. He was inputting some lab results from the day, some scans and tests he’d done on his experiment. There you were, floating in an incubation tank hooked up to multiple tubes feeding you nutrients and and various drugs to keep your growth process going. So close to being ready, just a few more days.
A loud thump was heard, catching the man’s attention from his paperwork to the reason for his sleepless nights in the lab. The experiment wanted out, they craved waking up.
Not yet, my precious
His tone was probably softer than it had ever been towards them, and still there was something twisted. That dark obsession he had with them bled into every word as he moved towards the incubation chamber. His hand pressed against the glass as the experiment squirmed and jerked in the fluid. Their eyes opened, panic on their face when they found themselves choking on fluids and restrained by tubes. They thrashed harder, more violently, blinded by the instinctual need to survive.
A small crack, then it grew, then it spider webbed as they slammed themself over and over against the glass until finally the containment simply couldn’t handle anymore. The experiment spills to the floor with the rest of the thick fluids, some tubes ripping from them with the fall and others holding stubbornly and tangling up the creation.
Glass was everywhere, the floor a mess, but all he saw was them… alive.
