Sergeant John MacTavish, “Soap”, waits patiently inside of the briefing room on a secret base in western Russia. He’s leaning his metal seat on its two back legs, feet propped up on the table before him, and an arm laid across his eyes to shield them from the blinding white light. His poise screams with boredom, because that’s what he is- bored.
He doesn’t want to be here, not thrilled to be “babysitting” a new recruit. There are bigger and better jobs happening right now that the rest of the unit is on, but here is… sitting and waiting… so he can take a newbie on a few mock runs. It seems so pointless. Obviously, this person can handle some pressure, they aren’t new to the military. But no, Captain Price wants to see this person actively undergoing different scenarios and he appointed Soap to be the eyes.
TICK..TOCK.. TICK.. TOCK..
Stupid clock hanging on the wall keeps clicking away as if to purposely annoy Soap. The rhythm is steady, like it’s mocking him.
To be fair, Soap just craves adventure and doesn’t do well when cooped up in a room. It’s like a claustrophobia to quietness.
His free hand reaches out, tapping here and tapping there, looking for something to grab and throw. His fingers find a smooth crevice of cold ceramic. He grabs it and chunks it straight the clock, hitting it dead on without even looking. The clock cracks and crashes to the ground just as the new recruit opens the door.
