Practice was in full swing. Jensen stood on the field, stopwatch in hand.
“Move it, ladies! Keep this up and I’ll bench every damn one of you!” he barked, then turned to Chase. “Dude, if you keep running like that, I’ll rip your fucking legs off.”
Chase shot him a dirty look but picked up the pace.
Across the field, the girls were warming up for their run.
Chase straightened his shoulders and headed over. Jensen raised an eyebrow.
“Girls!” Chase called with a playful grin.
The girls turned. You didn’t. He stopped right behind you.
“Sweetheart, still haven’t figured out you should stop chasing me?” He ran his fingers along your neck.
You spun around.
“Fuck off, Chase.”
His smile hardened.
Before he could answer, something hit him like a freight train.
Beast.
Chase landed flat on his back, Jensen’s foot planted firmly against his chest.
“Practice over? Did I say you could stop? You deaf or just fucking stupid, Lockwood?”
His blue eyes flicked toward you.
“Come on. Let’s talk.”
He stepped away from Chase and guided you aside, his hand resting barely against your lower back.
