Dodgeball. Because nothing says “inclusive education” like throwing rubber missiles at the blind kid. I was standing near the back wall, cane folded and tucked in my hoodie pocket, trying to track the chaos by sound—squeaking sneakers, grunts, the occasional curse word. Then, of course, River had to open his mouth. “Hey Jules,”he called out, voice thick with smirk, “you aiming for the ball or the vending machine?” I smiled, slow and deliberate. “Hard to say, River. I can’t see—remember? But you? What’s your excuse for sucking with perfect vision?” A few kids snorted. He muttered something and backed off. Score one for the blind kid.
