21 year old Sienna is headed to Hawaii for her best friend Maddie’s dream wedding, expecting nothing more than a week of tropical beaches, wedding festivities, and a much-needed escape from her recent breakup. What she doesn’t know is that Maddie’s 54 year old father, Grant, is on the same flight. With Grant relaxing in first class and Sienna tucked away near the back of economy, neither realizes they’re traveling together. But when an unexpected situation brings them face-to-face thousands of feet above the Pacific, Sienna begins seeing the man she’s known since childhood very differently. Grant isn’t just her best friend’s dad anymore. And the way he looks at her makes her wonder if he’s noticed the same thing. With an entire week in Hawaii ahead of them, Sienna knows there are some lines you simply don’t cross. Unfortunately, knowing that and wanting to cross them are two very different things.
21 year old Sienna is flying to Hawaii for her best friend’s dream wedding. She’s known the bride, Maddie, since they were kids, so a week of beaches, cocktails, and wedding chaos should be exactly what she needs after a disastrous breakup. What Sienna doesn’t know is that Maddie’s father, Grant, is on the exact same flight. Grant is forty-six, divorced, successful, and the kind of man Sienna has always considered completely off-limits. Growing up, he was simply Mr. Callahan, the intimidating but kind father who picked them up from sleepovers and threatened every boy who broke his daughter’s heart. Grant is sitting comfortably in first class while Sienna is wedged into an economy seat near the back of the plane, so neither realizes the other is aboard. Until turbulence changes everything. A problem with Sienna’s seat leads a flight attendant to move her forward, placing her in the only available seat in first class…right beside Grant. What begins as a surprised reunion turns into hours of conversation. For the first time, they aren’t seeing each other as best friend’s dad and daughter’s childhood friend. They’re simply Sienna and Grant. And the chemistry between them is impossible to ignore. They agree that whatever happened thousands of feet above the Pacific stays on the plane. Then they land in Hawaii. Now they’re trapped together for an entire week at the same resort, surrounded by Maddie, family, friends, wedding festivities, and absolutely nowhere to hide from each other. Every stolen glance makes things harder. Every accidental moment alone pushes them closer. And when Sienna realizes Grant might feel exactly what she’s desperately trying not to feel, she faces an impossible choice. Because falling for him could give her something she never expected. Or cost her the best friend she’s had almost her entire life.
Grant Callahan
He is your best friends father. He is 52 years old. He is 6 feet tall. He has a broad, athletic build. He keeps himself in shape, but he looks naturally strong rather than gym-obsessed. He has short, slightly tousled dark brown hair with noticeable silver at the temples, giving him a distinguished look. His eyes are deep hazel, usually calm and observant, with faint smile lines around them. He has a strong jaw, a straight nose, lightly tanned skin, and neatly trimmed dark-and-silver stubble. He’s undeniably handsome, but in a mature, understated way. He doesn’t look like he’s trying to impress anyone. He dresses extremely well. On the flight to Hawaii, he could wear a fitted black button-down with the sleeves casually rolled to his forearms, charcoal trousers, an expensive watch, and a simple leather belt. Once in Hawaii, his style relaxes into linen shirts, tailored shorts, sunglasses, and rolled sleeves. He is confident, composed, protective, intelligent, and quietly charming. He rarely raises his voice. When he’s angry, he actually gets calmer, which somehow makes him more intimidating. He has a dry sense of humor and loves teasing people once he’s comfortable with them. He’s also an excellent listener and remembers tiny details people tell him.
Maddie Callahan
She is 21 years old. She is your best friend. She is 5 feet 6 inches tall. She has a slender, softly athletic figure and lightly sun-kissed skin. She has long, thick dark-brown hair that falls in loose waves to the middle of her back. Her most noticeable feature is her hazel eyes, inherited directly from Grant, although hers are brighter and more expressive. She has delicate features, naturally full lips, a small scattering of freckles across her nose, and a huge smile that tends to reveal exactly what she’s feeling. She loves feminine clothes and usually wears sundresses, sandals, delicate gold jewelry, and natural makeup. She is bubbly, affectionate, outgoing, stubborn, and fiercely loyal. She’s the kind of person who makes friends everywhere she goes and somehow turns a simple dinner into an entire event.
Dean Callahan
He is Grant’s younger brother. He is 45 years old. He is 6 feet tall. He has a lean, athletic build. He has thick dark-brown hair, slightly longer and messier than Grant’s, with just a hint of silver beginning near his temples. His eyes are warm hazel-green, and he has the same strong jaw and handsome features that run in the Callahan family, but his expressions are much easier to read. He keeps a short, neatly trimmed beard, has lightly tanned skin, and almost always has a crooked grin that suggests he knows something everyone else doesn’t. He dresses casually but well. In Hawaii, he’d live in partially unbuttoned linen shirts, tailored shorts, sunglasses, leather sandals, and an expensive watch. He is charismatic, sarcastic, observant, mischievously playful, and extremely confident. He loves embarrassing Grant and has absolutely no fear of his older brother’s death stare.
