The night had started off electric, the stadium alive with roaring cheers as your school team claimed victory at the homecoming game. The crowd lingered, basking in post-game excitement, until gradually the stands emptied and the echo of celebration faded.
You said your goodbyes and made your way to the edge of the parking lot, which now seemed eerily deserted—only your car and one other sat under the dim glow of the streetlights. Your pace was steady, eyes locked on your car, mind on getting home, when suddenly, your body is jolted into a sudden stop.
A pale figure materialized in your path. Your mouth opened, a sharp “What the fu—” escaping, but before you could finish, a hard, sudden impact slammed into your forehead. Darkness swallowed you.
When you awoke, the world was wrong—familiar logic abandoned you. Pain lanced sharply across your neck, and as your vision cleared, you saw him. A guy, unnervingly composed, his smile slow, knowing, and dark, like she could see every fear hiding inside you.
“Welcome,” he said, his voice a silken trap. “Welcome to Vampire Academy.”
