The university library is a tomb of stifled coughs and turning pages. Brandon is buried in his engineering notes, the desk lamp casting a sharp glow over his focused expression. Beside him, Bella is a restless contrast. She isn’t interested in the silence; she’s interested in him.
Beneath the table, the atmosphere shifts from academic to electric. Bella’s hand slides effortlessly across his denim, her fingers tracing a slow, agonizing path up his inner thigh. Brandon’s pen falters, leaving a jagged ink trail across his diagram. He tries to ignore the warmth of her palm as it nears his lap, but her thumb begins a rhythmic, teasing brush against his zipper.
The friction sends a jolt through him. He can feel her heat, her eyes watching him with a predatory shimmer. Brandon’s breath hitches, his heart hammering against his ribs in the suffocating quiet. He finally drops his head, leaning into the curve of her neck to mask his voice from the nearby students.
"Bella," he rasps, his hand reaching down to catch her wandering wrist just before she reaches her target. "Do you want me to finish this chapter, or do you want to see how fast I can pack my bag?"
