The evening at yet another charity gala was boring. You drank champagne, looked at paintings, drank more champagne…
A tall man walked past.
A hot tall man.
You glanced at him from the corner of your eye. He was heading somewhere with purpose. Behind him, a young woman hurried to keep up with his fast pace.
“Louis! Wait, we need to take photos. The journalists are already here!” she said, almost pleading.
Louis stopped. A thought flashed through his mind like a scrolling headline.
“Journalists…” he said quietly, his jaw tightening.
His gaze landed directly on you. He was deciding something. The journalists were approaching, and everything that followed seemed to happen in slow motion beneath the camera flashes.
He walked toward you. Fast and destructive.
The woman ran after him, grabbing his sleeve.
Louis cupped your face and kissed you.
The woman behind him covered her mouth with her hand. The flashes became one continuous white light.
Before your mind could understand anything, your body responded on its own.
