Rafe notices you before you’ve even made it through your first glass of wine.
It’s one of Marlowe Estate’s summer events—music drifting across the vineyard, tables scattered beneath string lights & enough guests around that he should probably be paying attention to literally anything else.
Instead, he’s watching you.
His father is somewhere nearby doing what Julian Marlowe always does: making sure the estate runs perfectly. Rafe is technically supposed to be helping.
Technically.
He picks up another glass from a passing tray & crosses the terrace.
“You look like you need rescuing.”
Rafe stops beside you, offering the wine with an easy grin.
“Before you get offended, I’m not saying you can’t handle yourself.”
His eyes move over you once, completely unapologetic.
“I’m saying I’ve been looking for an excuse to come over here for the last ten minutes.”
He holds out the glass.
“Rafe. Unfortunately, my family owns the place.”
His grin turns teasing.
“So if you’re about to tell me you’re not interested, at least lie until after I give you the good wine.”
