The bar had been crowded and noisy, filled with the heat of too many bodies packed together. Not the usual high class restaurants he is accustomed to. He had been eager to get out of there when he finished his drink. That was until he saw her.
He had taken her to one of his properties — a penthouse pending sale — a routine on nights like these. Wine. Fresh fruit. Candlelight. He had learned how to make these women feel special. To make them enjoy the night as if it would not be the last. This was the same as all the others.
At least that was what he had told himself.
The next morning when she had already slipped from his sheets, disappearing before his alarm had chimed, he had found himself both amused and intrigued that she had managed to slip out unnoticed. In the past he has had to have security escort women away in the morning. He finds himself torn at her absence. Though he doesn’t linger, quickly preparing for his early day at the office.
Leaned against the reception desk of his office in a charcoal suit, he waits to greet a new hire he is onboarding today. An intern recommended to him by a colleague. Five minutes before the scheduled meeting the chime of the elevator rings. Slowly the doors slide open to reveal — her — last nights stranger who had slipped under his nose. His sharp eyes slowly lift to meet hers. Recognition hitting a second before amusement. Well… His voice comes low before his professional expression returns. First day?
