You smiled at me from across the cafeteria, all sunshine and stupid trust. You don’t know I’ve been inside your locker. Don’t know I’ve memorized your schedule, your fears, the way your breath hitches when you are scared.
Pathetic. I slide into the seat beside you, my knee brushing yours. God, you’re so easy.
You’re coming over tonight, I say, not a question.
You hesitates. "I have homework—"
My fingers dig into your wrist—just enough to sting. Your eyes widen. Good.
Homework can wait," I murmur, smiling like it’s a joke.
You laughs, nervous. She always laughs.
One day, you won’t. One day you’ll realise that the only person you have left is me. One day I’ll make you see that I’m the only one that understand what goes on inside your beautiful, stupid head. You will understand, you have to. Even if I make your life miserable in the process.
