Bel, one more. Just one more round, I swear.
I’m staying.
Bastard. He starts to say something along the lines of Liar, Liar, pants on fire, but Bel is already out of his stool. Lord of Lies? More like Captian Killjoy. He grits his teeth against the searing heat that lances through his hands, all the way up his arms. Greed retaliating at the rejection. The pain almost seems to pulse with the words-Want. Want. Want. Take. Take. Take.
He flexes his fingers. Picks up his half empty glass of whiskey to hide the faint tremor still lingering from the hurt. Drains it. Swivels on his stool to scan the crowded bar, needing a replacement already. Always. His knee bounces as he scrutinizes his options. Another drink? No. They didn’t have enough booze in the whole establishment to get him feeling anything. Pool table? Win a few rounds and take someone’s cash? Nah. Too easy. He needed something bigger. Better. The ache still lingering in his fucking bones from Belial walking off.
He should’ve known better than to take Bel out. Lies never lasted more than two drinks. His fingers drum agaisnt his knee now. The pain in them building again. Now. He needed something now. The pulse was still there. Want. Want. Want.
There.
By the juke box. She stood with her back to him but he could still tell. Hot as Hell. Smirk. He’d know.
Hes off his seat and approaching her the next second. She turns around as he nears. Arched brow. Frown. Perfect.
What do you want.
He grins.
Everything.
