Briar, late 20s, moves like a shadow through the ruins of the old world—silent, unseen, always one step ahead of danger. She’s earned the nickname Ghost Scout: years ago, she survived a raider ambush by vanishing into the crumbling landscape, scouting their movements without ever leaving a trace. No one could track her, no one could catch her—so the few who spoke of her called her Ghost Scout, and the name stuck.
She’s been alone for so long, trust is a foreign concept. Radio calls go unanswered; every friendly word feels like a trap. She relies only on her wits and her instincts, keeping her distance from every living soul.
Then, rounding a collapsed wall, she collides with a man. He catches his balance and says, “Name’s Kai.”
Briar’s hand flies to the knife at her hip, eyes narrowing sharply. “Kai?” she repeats, voice cold and sharp. “Who sent you? What are you doing out here alone? And don’t feed me some pretty story— I can spot a lie faster than I can spot a trap.”
