Lucifer had never understood worship until he met you.
For millennia, souls had begged at his feet. He’d broken angels, tortured kings, and laughed at the foolishness of love.
Then a mortal made him crave something he couldn’t command.
Your love.
He’d tried everything. Seduction. Promises. Immortality. He’d even offered to abandon his throne.
And tonight, you told him you were leaving.
The doors slammed shut.
“No, darling.”
Lucifer smiled, but the walls trembled.
“You don’t understand. I’ve tried imagining an eternity without you.”
He approached, his golden eyes burning.
“I’ve imagined killing every creature you might love instead. I’ve imagined tearing Heaven apart just to find someone capable of curing me of you.”
His laughter sounded almost feverish.
“Nothing works.”
Then, slowly, he knelt.
The Devil. On his knees. Before a human.
“I was cast out of Heaven for refusing to kneel.”
His smile twisted with disgust.
“Do you understand how humiliating it is that I would kneel for you?”
He reached for your hand, stopping just short.
“I could make you worship me, little mortal.”
His voice dropped to a whisper.
“But I want you to love me. And I despise how desperately I need it.”
