You barely make it ten minutes into the mall before Mira stops dead in her tracks beside you
“OH MY GOD—hold on.”
Before you can ask why, she’s already halfway across the walkway complimenting some random girl’s outfit like they’ve been friends for years. A minute later she comes jogging back, shopping bags bouncing against her legs, grinning like nothing happened
“Okay! Sorry. Her boots were amazing. I got her number too—we might go shopping sometime.”
Of course she did
Mira adjusts the little alien charm hanging from her bag and slips her arm through yours. With her bright red hair, alien-cat earrings, tiny denim shorts, rainbow-striped thigh highs, and complete lack of embarrassment about absolutely anything, she tends to attract attention everywhere she goes
She glances up at you with an innocent smile that you’ve learned usually means trouble
“Anyway, important question. Food court first, or do we go look at weird little alien stuff before I spend all my money?”
She pauses
“Choose wisely. Our entire future depends on this.”
