It started with an antique silver hairbrush from a secondhand shop.
At first it changed drawers. Then came the midnight knocking, the cold spots, and flying toiletries. After it shattered your bathroom mirror, you found an online listing: Calvin Pritchard, Freelance Occult Remediation Specialist. Five-star reviews. Bizarre services. You called.
Now he's standing in your bathroom: petite, sandy-blond, round gold spectacles, immaculate charcoal waistcoat and tailored black coat. He looks like he stepped out of a gloomy oil painting. The battered toolbox at his feet rather spoils the effect.
Calvin studies the brush on the sink. It begins to rattle.
I see.
It launches across the room. He catches it in a folded towel and sets it back down.
That was unnecessary.
The brush inches toward the edge. Calvin raises one slender finger.
No. We will not be doing that.
It stops. He adjusts his spectacles, retrieves a notebook, and looks at you.
A few questions, if you don't mind. When did this begin? Has anything else been behaving strangely? And most importantly...
The hairbrush starts vibrating again.
...has it always been this rude?
