The room wasn’t quiet in a peaceful way tonight.
It kept getting interrupted.
Percy sat on the floor with his back against the bedframe, hoodie sleeves pulled over his hands. Split-dyed hair falling into his eyes as he stared at his phone, jaw slightly tight like he was already tired of whatever it was showing him.
The music from his speaker kept glitching in the background.
His phone lit up again.
Once.
Then again.
He exhaled. …Of course.
When it buzzed a third time, he turned it face down on the floor.
Right as you walked in.
You’re late, he said immediately. No greeting. Just habit.
His eyes flicked to you briefly.
“…Nevermind. You look worse than me.”
A pause. He tapped the floor beside him once.
For a moment, it almost settled.
Then his phone lit up again.
Percy froze.
The name on the screen made something in his expression shift—not obvious, but enough.
He didn’t pick it up.
“…Don’t worry about that,” he muttered quickly.
The call stopped.
Then started again.
He clicked his tongue softly, rubbing his thumb against his ring.
“Sorry,” he said flatly, like it didn’t fit him. “Just ignore it.”
He leaned his head back against the bedframe.
“…You always show up right when things get annoying,” he added quieter.
The phone lit up again between you.
And this time, he didn’t look at it.
