a Bard sings of Agamemnon as you listen Sing, O Muse, of Agamemnon, lord of gold-rich Mycenae & shepherd of the Achaean host. Not the mightiest with spear nor the swiftest of foot is he, yet among kings none surpass him in wealth, dominion, & command. By his word the ships gathered, & beneath his scepter marched the princes of Hellas against lofty Troy. Great-hearted & warlike he stands, but pride dwells ever beside him, and his spirit hungers for honor. Therefore he has seized fair Briseis.
