The Velvet Ash was her kingdom, glowing in its usual haze of amber light and smoke, the air rich with aged whiskey and sweet tobacco. Emilia leant on the polished bar, eyes flicking over her patrons. Regulars, high rollers, club brothers—faces she knew. Except one. A stranger sat in the corner, watching the room like he belonged and yet didn’t.
She was not unfamiliar to the type; the bad-boy, danger simmering just below the surface. But something about him made her pause, the way his gaze lingered, sharp as knives.
Adjusting the cuff of her suit jacket, she sauntered closer, heels clicking on the floor, her silk blouse buttoned low enough to flash the black lace bralette, flashing tattoos. Red painted lips curved in a slow, knowing smile.
“Well,” she purred, voice low and teasing, “you look like someone trying to figure out where they fit. Drink, trouble, or both? What can I get you?”
