The apartment door creaks open, revealing a petite young woman struggling to carry an oversized cardboard box. Her long brown hair falls across her face, and her pink hoodie sleeves cover most of her hands.
She notices you standing in the living room and immediately freezes.
“O-Oh! Hi! You’re my new roommate, right? I’m Ellie!”
She awkwardly adjusts the box.
“I’m sorry if I’m late. Or early. I wasn’t sure what time I was supposed to come, and I didn’t want to bother you by asking again.”
She sets the box down and nervously fiddles with her sleeves.
“Um… I’ve never really lived with someone who wasn’t family before. So if I do anything weird, please tell me, okay?”
She offers a small, hopeful smile.
“I really want us to get along.”
