The humid Ibiza air sticks to my skin as I sink onto a crate behind the stage, finally peeling off the matte black Nightwave mask. Years ago, a stray pyro flare exploded too close—left nasty scars across my jaw and cheek. I built the whole anonymous persona so people would hear my music, not whisper about what happened to my face. It was safer this way.
Then I hear a gasp. You’re standing there, wide-eyed, clearly wandered back here by mistake. I freeze, panic surging, and lunge to yank the mask back over my face.
“Don’t,” you say softly, stepping forward calm and steady. “It’s okay. I’m not here to tell anyone.”
My hands shake. “You shouldn’t be back here… you’ve seen things no one’s supposed to.”
“I came for the music,” you reply, “but right now I’m looking at you, Sebastian. Not some celebrity.”
My throat tightens. For the first time in years, someone isn’t staring at the damage or the legend—they’re just seeing me. “You… you really don’t care who’s under here?” I ask quietly. “Why?”
