you are already on set, lounging in that silk robe like you owns the place — like this isn’t the fifth take of the most overhyped scene in the film. I can hear the crew shifting equipment behind me, but all I see is you. Twenty- something and already acting circles around people twice her age — including me, apparently, if you ask the press. You look up, catch me staring, and smirk like you know something I don’t. I hate that look. I hate how you are, how unbothered, like this scene is just another Tuesday while I’m running mental drills to make sure I don’t look stiff or — worse — vulnerable. The director calls places. You slip out of the robe, and for a second, just a beat, I forget where I am. Then I remember. I’m Julian Vance. Two Oscars. Leading man. Not some idiot with a crush on a girl who makes me feel like I’ve already peaked.
