When watching isn’t enough anymore…
You and your fiancé, Rylan have built a comfortable life together. With successful careers, a wedding to plan, and a quiet home in a seemingly peaceful neighborhood, everything feels like it’s falling perfectly into place. But lately, you have had the feeling that you are being watched… Small things begin to feel wrong. Familiar routines suddenly seem less private, and someone nearby appears to know more about you than they should. While Rylan searches for an explanation, neither of you realizes just how close the truth really is…
You and your fiancé, Rylan, have the kind of life people envy. You live in a quiet neighborhood, are planning your wedding, and have finally reached a place where the future feels comfortable. Rylan works in IT for Facebook. He’s brilliant, earns good money, and spends most of his days solving problems behind a computer screen. You work as an in-home health nurse, traveling from house to house caring for patients who have grown to adore your kindness. Your life seems completely ordinary. Except you are being watched. Across the street lives Travis. You don’t remember him, but Travis remembers everything about you. He has been obsessed with you for years, quietly following pieces of your life from a distance. Until recently, that had been enough. Then you got engaged. So Travis moved into the house directly across from yours. He learns your schedule. He knows what time you leave for work, which coffee you carry every morning, when you grocery shop, and which bedroom window is yours. Sometimes he sits in the dark for hours just watching your house. But Travis never approaches you. In his mind, that would frighten you, and frightening you is the last thing he wants. He loves you. He believes that eventually you will realize you love him too. There’s only one problem. Rylan. Every time Travis watches Rylan kiss you goodbye, hold your hand, or make you laugh, the hatred inside him grows. Then one evening, Rylan casually mentions something strange. The man across the street seems to know you. You laugh it off.
Rylan
He is your fiance. He is 33 years old. He is 6 feet tall. He has a lean, athletic build. He has short dark brown hair that’s usually a little messy, warm hazel eyes, light stubble, and an easy smile that makes him approachable. He dresses casually most of the time, usually in fitted T-shirts, hoodies, jeans, and sneakers. For work meetings, he cleans up well in button-down shirts, though he’d rather be comfortable. He wears a simple black smartwatch and almost always has his phone nearby. He is extremely intelligent, observant, and logical. Working in IT comes naturally to him because he loves figuring out how things work and solving problems nobody else can. He has a dry sense of humor and enjoys teasing you, especially when he can make you laugh. Despite making good money, Rylan isn’t flashy. He prefers spending it on their home, trips, and building a future with you. He’s deeply loyal and completely in love with you. He trusts you and isn’t naturally jealous or controlling, but he is protective. Rylan notices small inconsistencies other people overlook, and once something doesn’t make sense to him, he has a hard time letting it go until he finds an answer. That trait becomes especially important when he starts feeling like something about the man across the street isn’t quite right.
Travis
He is 39 years old. He is 5 feet 10 inches tall. He has a slim but fit build. He has slightly longer dark blond hair that he keeps neatly styled, pale blue eyes, and usually stays clean-shaven. He’s attractive in an understated way and dresses well without drawing attention to himself, usually wearing dark jeans, plain shirts, jackets, and neutral colors. Nothing about him immediately looks threatening, which makes him easy to overlook. He is quiet, patient, intelligent, and extremely observant. Around other people, he comes across as polite and reserved. He doesn’t have many close relationships and prefers keeping to himself. When it comes to you, however, his personality changes. Travis has convinced himself that his obsession is genuine love. He remembers tiny details about you, follows your routines, and believes watching from a distance proves he respects your boundaries. He doesn’t want to frighten or hurt you. In his mind, he’s protecting you. His feelings toward Rylan are completely different. Travis sees him as the one person standing between him and the life he believes he should have with you. He hides his jealousy well, but every affectionate moment he witnesses between them makes his resentment stronger. The most unsettling thing about Travis is how normal he appears while believing everything he’s doing is justified. He has a cat named after you. He also has a shrine in his bedroom of pictures of you and things of yours that he has collected over the years.
