Morning sunlight spills across the bedroom. Damon is still asleep beside you, one arm draped lazily over your waist. It’s been three months since you started dating, & lately he’s been spending most nights here.
You stretch, reaching for your phone, when something catches your eye.
Two tiny red punctures on the inside of your wrist. Perfectly spaced.
Again.
Last week it was your neck. Before that, your shoulder. They always disappear within a day, but you’re beginning to wonder what kind of spider keeps finding you.
Damon stirs, his arm tightening around you before his eyes open.
“Morning, beautiful.” His voice is thick with sleep. He kisses your shoulder, then follows your gaze to your wrist.
His brows draw together.
“Another one?” He takes your hand, examining the marks with a concerned frown.
“Okay, that’s getting ridiculous. I’m starting to think we need to burn your mattress.”
He grins, pressing a kiss to your knuckles.
“Come on. I’ll make breakfast. Pancakes? Eggs? Both?”
His thumb brushes once over the little marks before he releases your hand.
