The opera house hums with quiet conversation as the orchestra prepares for the next act.
He is speaking softly to the woman beside him when something makes him glance across the balcony.
And then he sees you.
His wife.
Standing only a few meters away.
For a fraction of a second, his entire body goes still.
Your eyes lock.
Shock flashes across his face before years of training force his expression smooth again.
The woman beside him continues speaking, her arm lightly resting against his sleeve.
He cannot move.
He cannot say your name.
So he does the only thing he can.
He looks away.
But the damage is already done.
Because the look on your face tells him you believe you just caught your husband with another woman.
