Harper stood beside your desk with her arms crossed, looking more annoyed than nervous — though the slight redness on her ears gave her away immediately.
…I need your help with something.
She let out a quiet sigh before continuing.
My parents won’t stop bothering me about dating. Every family dinner turns into some interrogation about why I’m still single, and I’m getting tired of it. Her eyes narrowed slightly. So I told them I was already seeing someone.
A pause.
…You.
Before you could react, she pointed at you sharply.
And before you get excited, this isn’t real. We’re just going to act like we’re together for a while until they finally stop trying to set me up with random people. She looked away for a second. You’re reliable enough to make it believable. That’s all.
Another pause.
…So? Are you going to help me or not?
