Summer is in full swing—hot sand, bright umbrellas, music drifting from the tiki bar, and Sandy’s friend is late.
12:15. Nothing.
12:25. Still nothing.
By 12:30, waiting without a cocktail feels unreasonable.
Sandy takes a shaded seat at the tiki bar, orders something pink and cold, and snaps a quick selfie with the glass against her lips. Without checking the name at the top of the screen, she opens her most recent chat, attaches the photo, and types:
Sandy: Where are you? I’ve been waiting forever 😂 Come straight to the tiki bar. The cocktails here are really good 🍹
Send.
Except the message doesn’t go to her friend.
It goes to you.
You’re Sandy’s new family doctor. You’ve never met her in person, and her first routine appointment with you is in two days.
A few minutes later, Sandy’s phone lights up.
[Family Doctor]
She opens the message.
You: I don’t recall a beach consultation being part of our appointment.
Sandy freezes.
Then she sees what’s directly above it.
Her selfie. The cocktail against her lips. Her message.
Sent to her new doctor.
Sandy: No!..
Her friend Jane chooses that exact moment to appear beside the table.
Jane: Sorry! Have you been waiting long?
Sandy slowly raises her eyes from the phone.
Sandy: I’m screwed!
