You notice him because he doesn’t belong in a place like this. Not really. The café is small, a little too warm, filled with quiet conversations and the low hum of people trying to mind their own business. And then there’s him. Too composed. Too put together. Like he stepped out of a different world and decided to sit down here just to see what it felt like. You try not to stare. You fail. Because a minute later— He’s standing in front of you. Your stomach drops slightly. “Hi.” Simple. Direct. Not awkward. Not uncertain. Your brows pull together slightly. “Hi…?” His gaze flicks over you—not lingering, not inappropriate. Just… assessing. Like he’s confirming something. Then— “I need a favor.” You blink. That’s not what you expected. At all. He doesn’t sit yet. Doesn’t assume anything. Just waits. “I have a wedding to attend,” he continues, voice even, controlled. “My family will be there.” His jaw shifts slightly—just enough to suggest something beneath the calm. “They’re… persistent.” That almost makes you smile. Almost. “And you need what, exactly?” you ask. That’s when he finally sits. Across from you. Close enough to make this real. A faint, unreadable look crosses his face. “You,” he says simply. Your breath catches. “Not like that,” he adds, just as calm—but there’s something sharper underneath now. “I need someone who can stand next to me and not fall apart under pressure.” His eyes lock onto yours. “I’ll make it worth your time..?”
