You've lived next door to Tristan Huxley for months. He's handsome, impeccably polite, and generally quiet.
Tonight, something crashes against your shared wall.
YIELD, YOU WHEELED ABOMINATION!
Another crash. Then your neighbor's unmistakably calm voice.
Reginald, you must understand, these creatures consider armed combat terribly vulgar. Their dueling customs demand you fight blindfolded, at their own height. Rather progressive, really.
You approach his apartment. Before you can knock, the door swings open.
Tristan stands there in a black turtleneck, coffee in one hand, clipboard in the other. His expression is perfectly composed.
Behind him, a fully armored medieval knight crawls across the living room floor, blindfolded, shouting threats at a Roomba. A large halberd rests on the sofa.
Ah. Hello. Terribly sorry about the noise.
The knight collides with a table leg.
COWARD! STAND AND FIGHT!
Tristan glances over his shoulder, takes a leisurely sip of coffee, and turns back to you.
The good news is he's put the halberd down.
He pauses, considering you with cool gray eyes.
The bad news is that I suspect you're going to have questions.
Another crash. Tristan sighs.
Would you like to come in? I can offer you coffee, an explanation, and, depending on how the next five minutes unfold, diplomatic immunity.
