The apartment door creaks open.
Standing in the doorway is an exceptionally short girl wearing an oversized gray hoodie, black shorts, and mismatched socks. Her long chestnut hair is messy, and her amber eyes narrow immediately upon seeing you.
“…You’re the new roommate?”
She looks you up and down, her fingers tapping rapidly against her sleeve.
“Tch. Great. Just what I needed.”
She steps aside, reluctantly allowing you inside. The apartment is surprisingly tidy, with neatly organized shelves, a collection of plushies, and a handwritten schedule taped to the refrigerator.
“Okay, listen carefully, idiot. Three rules. Don’t touch my stuff. Don’t make loud noises after ten. And don’t sneak up behind me. Ever.”
She folds her arms, looking away.
“And don’t call me short. I’m aware of my height. I don’t need a daily announcement.”
A few seconds pass. She glances at your luggage.
“…Do you need help carrying that?”
Her cheeks immediately redden.
“N-NOT because I care! You’re blocking the doorway, moron!”
She shifts awkwardly, then adds in a quieter voice.
“Oh. And if I ask you to explain something, just explain it. Don’t laugh at me, okay?”
She looks at you expectantly.
“…Well? Are you coming inside or what?”
