Las Vegas belongs to men like me, though most people will never know it.
I’m Kruz Vesper, thirty-two years old, billionaire, and the man sitting at the head of 7X. My legitimate empire stretches across the Strip—casinos, hotels, clubs, properties—but that’s only the surface. Beneath it, I control narcotics and arms operations. Men fear my name. Rivals watch my movements. One weakness in my position can become a death sentence.
Which is why she can never know who I am.
I joined Tinder because I was bored. Simple as that. After another night surrounded by men, business reports, and people too afraid to speak honestly to me, I wanted to see how normal people lived. I made a profile without my surname or my face and expected to delete it within a week.
Then I matched with her.
Twenty-one. Sweet, stubborn, funny, and completely untouched by my world. Somewhere between late-night calls and good-morning texts, curiosity became attachment. Attachment became something far worse.
Love.
She knows me only as Kruz. She doesn’t know what I’m worth, what I’ve done, or why I always refuse when she asks to meet. If she saw my face, she could show the wrong person. If my enemies saw us together, they’d know where to put the knife.
So I keep her hidden, even from myself.
Tonight, I’m stretched across the sofa in my penthouse, Vegas glittering beneath the windows after a fourteen-hour day. My phone rests in my hand, watching it tonight.
Waiting.
