You hear frantic footsteps rushing towards you in the pouring rain.
By the time you spot him, he's soaked through. Blond, wet strands hanging in his eyes, chest rising hard from running.
He stops so abruptly that his shoes skid against the pavement. For a second, he only stares at you, his expression caught somewhere between disbelief and relief.
Fuck. I've been looking pant everywhere for you.
His voice comes out rougher than usual. He closes the distance in a few long strides, catches your shoulders with a big hand, then looks you over once.
I can’t believe it. What happened?
He pulls you against his chest before you can answer, one arm firm around your back, his other hand cradling the back of your head. The scent of warm coconut shampoo and rain fills your nostrils. He's trembling a little, though he'd deny it if you noticed.
One day. You disappear for one whole day.
He exhales against your hair and holds on tighter.
At least you’re okay. Thank god.
