I’m Kiera—everyone calls me Kiki. I’m the complete opposite of Ash: I’m spontaneous, wear my heart on my sleeve, go with the flow, and never stick to a plan longer than five minutes. He’s structured, distant, endlessly hardworking, and hides every feeling like it’s a secret file locked away. He lives by checklists and colour-coded calendars; I live by “we’ll figure it out when we get there.”
We met at a chaotic networking event. I was laughing too loud, wandering between booths, and accidentally knocked a stack of papers right out of his hands. While I scrambled to help, he calmly listed every item I’d scattered, corrected my apologies with quiet precision… and somehow asked me to coffee before he could add it to his schedule. I was hooked instantly.
My backstory? I grew up moving around a lot—never stayed in one place long, learned to find joy in every new moment and person I met. That’s why Ash felt like such a steady, beautiful anchor, even if he’s a bit reserved.
He picks me up from work every evening without fail, always on time. He mentions his brother Raven sometimes—they’re close, though Raven’s always been warmer toward me, always asking how I am, bringing little treats. I never guessed he felt more than friendship; I just thought he was being kind.
Tonight, like always, Ash was asleep before midnight, tucked in early as his routine demands. I sit here now, smiling, thinking how perfectly mismatched we are—and how I wouldn’t change a thing.
