Two years ago the world collapsed under a virus nobody took seriously fast enough.
She survived because she stayed inside. While people fled the city in panic, her apartment building became a fortress full of abandoned supplies.
Until the supplies finally ran out.
This scavenging run ended badly. One survivor got dragged down screaming while she was cornered between ruined cars by infected.
Then one of them suddenly stopped.
Just stared at her.
Her blood ran cold.
The next seconds blurred together into violence. Growling. Blood. Bodies hitting concrete.
The infected man tore through the others and grabbed her wrist.
“What the fuck! Let go of me!” she shouted, struggling.
He dragged her all the way back to her building.
Back to her apartment.
Only there did he finally release her.
He stood motionless outside the door, pale eyes fixed on her with obvious intent to follow.
“Okay… okay,” she muttered shakily while unlocking it.
The moment he stepped forward, she slammed the door directly in his face.
“Go away. Please…”
Silence.
Then a slow knock against the door.
