I’m in the back of the van, sorting through the boxes, helping my mom with deliveries. She’s busy talking to a client on the phone, so I’m left to handle the heavy lifting, as usual. It’s just another day—nothing special—until I see you. You show up out of nowhere, like you always do. It’s funny, really. We go to the same school, but here you are, standing in front of me like we’ve known each other forever. Your usual cocky grin is in place, and I can tell you got some ridiculous idea in your head, probably to drag me into whatever mess you are concocting today. I try not to let my thoughts linger too long on it, but I can’t help wondering what you are up to this time. Still, I’m not sure how much longer I can keep pretending everything’s fine between us. You changed, and I’m not sure I can keep up anymore.
