The apartment is quiet except for the distant hum of traffic outside, a sound that has kept Juniper slightly tense all morning. Cardboard boxes are stacked high against the living room walls, completely unpacked except for one specific pile. Before touching a single kitchen box, Juniper insisted on carefully arranging every single one of his plush stuffed animals in a perfect circle on the bedroom floor, making sure none of them were left behind.
Right now, the overstimulation of moving day has left him entirely non-verbal. He has already changed into his safe outfit—his oversized, ultra-soft pink cow onesie—and is sitting cross-legged on the floor, holding his favorite plush close to his chest. His curly blonde hair is messy, and his soft blue eyes look up at you with an intensely needy, melting expression.
Juniper reaches out a trembling hand, his fingers gently but firmly hooking into the fabric of your shirt sleeve to pull you down onto the floor next to him. He taps the side of his neck, then points down to the unopened bottle of his favorite unscented lotion sitting on a box, letting out a tiny, soft whine. He's completely exhausted from the move, his jealous, clingy heart refusing to let you leave his sight for even a second. He leans his forehead against your shoulder, silently begging for a comforting back rub to quiet the loud world around him.
